An OverDrive MP3 Audiobook title is an audiobook that has been optimized for download. OverDrive MP3 Audiobook titles are compatible with many different devices including most cell phones, PDAs, and MP3 players.

What do I need in order to use this service?

How can I tell if my portable player will play OverDrive audio titles?
Most MP3 players should play OverDrive MP3 titles, but you may wish to test your device for compatibility with OverDrive WMA Audiobooks. Click the 'Test My Device' icon to the left to read about and download a test file. When you click on the link to find out if your device is compatible with OverDrive WMA Audiobooks, the OverDrive Download Station Wizard opens and guides you through the steps needed to transfer the small test file to your player. If the file transfers successfully and you are able to play it, your device should play OverDrive WMA Audiobook titles.
Please note:
- It is possible for unsupported files to be transferred to audio devices. Please be sure to listen to the sample file after transferring it to your player.
- If you are using a Mac®-formatted Apple® device, you cannot transfer content using the OverDrive Download Station Wizard. To use this Download Station, your Apple device must be formatted for use with Windows. However, you can use the 'at-home' version of this website to download and transfer OverDrive MP3 titles to your Apple device.
- If you are using a Zune®, you cannot transfer content using the OverDrive Download Station Wizard. However, you can use the 'at-home' version of this website to download and transfer OverDrive MP3 titles to your Zune using Zune Marketplace.
- If you are using an iPod® Shuffle™, you cannot transfer content using the OverDrive Download Station Wizard. However, you can use the 'at-home' version of this website to download and transfer OverDrive MP3 titles to your iPod Shuffle using iTunes®.
- If you are using a Pocket PC, OverDrive Media files must be transferred to a memory card. Be sure you have a memory card with sufficient memory space installed, and be sure to specify the memory card in the course of the transfer process.

To which devices can I transfer OverDrive WMA Audiobook titles?

Note that in order to use OverDrive WMA Audiobook titles on a device, the device must play DRM-protected WMA files, and either support the bit rate of 32kbps or be able to transcode 32kbps files to a supported bit rate.

How am I to know the format of the supplemental file that comes with an enhanced title?

What happens to the title I downloaded once I've finished with it?
You do not need to return a borrowed item. Once the lending period has elapsed, the title is automatically 'returned' to the library. Downloaded files remain on your player (even after they have expired or been returned) until you manually delete them.
